Former Governor to lecture at SXUK

Kolkata: After former Vice-President Hamid Ansari, former Bengal Governor M. K. Narayanan is set to join St. Xavier’s University, Kolkata as a visiting professor.

Narayanan, who was also the third National Security Advisor of India, is an alumnus of Loyola College, Chennai. The 85-year-old will start lectures on the New Town campus from the new academic session starting from July 2019. In a letter to Fr. Vice-Chancellor, Narayanan said, “It will be an honour to be associated with St. Xavier’s University specially having as its Vice-Chancellor a distinguished personality like yourself.”

Narayanan, who lives in Chennai now, will visit the university on May 6 to discuss details of his role. Narayanan is the second in the list of luminaries to be on the faculty of SXUK as visiting professor.

The University is planning to approach others, like economist Kaushik Basu, industrialist and alumnus L. N. Mittal and former RBI governor Raghuram Rajan, to join the University as guest faculty.

“The idea behind inviting eminent leaders is to broaden the knowledge base of the students, as well as the faculty members,” Fr. Raj said.
